Clotho’s Handspinners GuildMeeting MinutesNovember 21, 2015
Next regular meeting:
December 5; Manakin Fire Station; 11AM – 4PM
The November meeting was called to order at 1:00pm by President, Barbara Drake
1. The monthly rent for our meeting space has doubled. We need to either find a new location or raise additional funds to cover the extra rent amount. After discussion, it was decided that we would raise additional funds through solicited donations and various fundraising activities throughout the year.
2. Judith Towers announced that Cothos will no longer be responsible for the FFF Skein and Garment Competition. We will continue to contribute the prize awards for the Christine Burley and Gladys Strong awards and will provide monitors for the S&G tent during the festival.
3. Fiber Challenge 2016 – Clothos member, Leslie, will present information for the 2016 challenge.
4. Dues for 2016 will increase to $25 per year. This increase is to help offset the increased rent. Benefits of membership include monthly meetings and programs, monthly newsletter, equipment rentals, and use of library which contains a wide variety of book and DVDs.
5. Workshop Coordinator – Jan and Rachel volunteered to co-coordinate educational workshops.
6. Winter retreat will be held on January 16 & 17. Hours will be 10am – 4pm on the 16th and 1pm – 5pm on the 17th. Bring snacks to share, your own lunch, and your cup, plate and eating utensils.
7. Media update – Kristina is putting meeting updates, photos and upcoming events on the Clothos Facebook page. “Like” the page to follow and get updates. “Subscribe” to meetings to get meeting and event information and updates.
8. It was suggested that we have a raffle table set up at the monthly meetings. Members may bring anything they wish to donate to be raffled off during the meeting. The raffle items do not need to be fiber related. Members need to bring cash ($1 bills) for the raffle.
